Joe David Brown, novelist and journalist, was born on May 12, 1915 in Birmingham, Alabama. From 1939 to 1946, Brown was a feature writer at the New York Daily News, and from 1949-1957 he was a foreign correspondent in India for TIME and LIFE magazines. Brown published many novels throughout his career, including STARS IN MY CROWN (1946), THE FREEHOLDER (1949), KINGS GO FORTH (1956), GLIMPSE OF A STRANGER (1968), and ADDIE PRAY (1971).
